Dancing in online games — to excess?
July 27, 2008 by Morninglark

While I was researching the dances in MMORPG’s for the Lark’s Choice Award, I ran across new MMO’s that are devoted JUST to dancing.
I love the roleplay aspects of MMO’s but come on. They made a whole game around it..heck actually I found TWO! (Dance Party and Dance Online)
Who needs a WHOLE game just to dance in?
We can dance in our favorite MMORPG, and then go slay a dragon too! (someone should go tell all those folks to come join us in our games!)
The gaming community has made so many GOOD video’s about their favorite games.
While I was writing my article for Best Dancing in an MMO, I must have watched at least 300 of them.
There were a few that just stood out as ones I would want to watch again!
It made me realize, no matter what game we play — we all share the same world.
The world of MMO gaming is just one big family! Across thousands of servers, in hundreds of games players are dancing and having fun right now.
The first one is a WoW video. I didn’t choose to use it on the award page.
I wanted that one to display the actual in game captures.
However, this one is GREAT!
The next one is four players having fun in EQ2. It’s just cool that four people spent a whole night doing this video instead of leveling and looting. (I love when players decide to be silly for the night)
And it would seem that even Jedi dance now and then…(SWG)
And finally this little video from Age of Conan.
You have to string together emotes to get this kind of dance. He spent a good deal of time doing this video. Non-gamers would say, “Man he has too much time on his hands.” But me, I say Awesome!
Bet he had fun making it, and sharing it.
If you are interested in more Dancing Videos, you will just have to search Youtube or Myspace yourself!

You may not be aware, but before the NGE, the Entertainer profession was a starter profession the elite professions it unlocked were Dancer, Musician, and Image Designer. These days, they all dance, play music, and can style your hair. For that matter, all professions now have the beginner dance style. Call it part of the WoWification of SWG.
