The Internet is Too Distracting!
July 21, 2008 by Lark

So as you know, I have been trying to learn all about this thing they call ‘blogging’. During my travels, I read many articles on “what every blogger should know.”
One told me that I really needed to register for Digg, so I did… What they didn’t tell me, is that I would end up wandering around the Digg site for three days, reading blogs and digging them. (so much for writing my own blogs)
During my travels on Digg, I read an article about how I should utilize Myspace, to generate traffic to my site. Time to head over there, because Digg is just too distracting….
I logged into my little used account and began to read. I chatted with a few old friends, added some Everquest music to my profile, accepted an invitation to play Mobsters from a friend. (This is her review of those games.) Three days later I have a cool mob, and have built several condo’s. Um..write a blog.. Oh yeah..thats why I went to Myspace. OOPS. Guess it’s too distracting too!
So I decide to get busy for real. I head over to Facebook and create a profile. (yeah another blog suggested that all bloggers just have to do that). So now I spend a day trying to figure out how it works. I create the profile, upload a picture, and get sidetracked looking for old High School friends.
Facebook is supposed to be more ‘professional’ than Myspace. It is touted by many bloggers as being the best tool since Google Analytics. Um…Yeah ok. Maybe for them. For me it was just much too distracting…
Then I followed some new blogs. They all said to read Planet Ocean. It’s a great site all about SEO (search engine optimization) It had many good articles, and links to other sites. Three days, 22 bookmarked SEO sites, 2000 tips on how to make your site more search engine friendly.
Very good tips, but what good are they if I don’t have any content to search???
So after over a week of doing those things..I have found, that they only serve to distract me from writing blogs!
From now on, I am going to worry more about writing these articles. The other things can wait.
