New Bloggers Could Become Overwhelmed…

July 25, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

I am lucky that I have some computer knowledge. I have designed and maintained both static and content driven websites in the past.

Therefore I understand html, SEO, and most of the relevant things that would be needed on a website.

But blogging is a whole new experience. I have been trying to make the conversion, in my little brain …WOW. (ha,ha I am too old for this shit) Read more

Geek Quizzes - You know you love them!

July 25, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

Come on, admit it. You have spent at least a few hours taking all those internet quizzes. What is your IQ? What MMORPG are you? How redneck are you? (I know I have!)

I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to find out!

After we take the quizzes, if we like the outcome, we rush to post them on Myspace. We let everyone know that we are the most excentric, and our Goth name is Dawn. I wanted to show you how to use them on your blogs instead.

The most annoying thing, for me, is all the pop-ups on those sites. I mean really…are you kidding me? Must I have 23 little windows advertising little dingbats and glitter things for my page? Does anyone ever actually click on those dumb annoying ads? Read more

The Internet is Too Distracting!

Distracted on the Internet

So as you know, I have been trying to learn all about this thing they call ‘blogging’. During my travels, I read many articles on “what every blogger should know.”

One told me that I really needed to register for Digg, so I did… What they didn’t tell me, is that I would end up wandering around the Digg site for three days, reading blogs and digging them. (so much for writing my own blogs) Read more

Games for your Blog

July 16, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

There are so many new gadgets and tools for blogging.

I was exploring on my I-Google site the other day, and had added a few of the gadgets to the page.

There were calendars, and quotes of the day. Silly little quizzes, and a soothing little aquarium thingy.

Then I clicked on games, and found a few. I could just install them on my google search page. (what will they think of next?!)

With a little more research, I figured out I could also install them on my blog posts. Read more

Hosting with Godaddy was a nightmare!

July 13, 2008 by Morninglark · 1 Comment

So after less than a month at Godaddy hosting..I realized that I just had to get better!

I have always used Godaddy to register domain names. The constant ads to sell you more stuff, were always annoying, but they got the job done.

I never actually hosted any of our domains there. We always had our own servers on Rackspace, or used something like Lunarpages.

Since I was just putting up a blog, I bought the “Deluxe Plan” with: Read more

Windows Live writer - a non review…

June 24, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

So I am creating this in BlogJet because after several attempts to download Windows live writer today, using the “Windows Live Installer.exe” – I gave up.

I finally went and downloaded the Windows Live beta version directly from one of the miriad of Microsoft sites. Honestly it’s like the blob…trying to find files on thier site. You would think that the world’s leader of software would have more user friendly sites..but that is a blog for another day… Read more

The quest for a better blog editor….

June 17, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

So it’s only been one day since I decided to start a blog, and I have already decided that the so called WYSIWIG editor that comes with Wordpress is sorely lacking.

So I tried using Microsoft Word, but that makes the formatting all wacky when you import or cut and paste it.

I went to the Wordpress site, and found some helpful articles and tips there. They suggest using a desktop blog editor.

I am trying Blog Jet tonight. Will also try WindowsLiveWriter. Will let you know what I think.
