Grandma buys all the games…

July 28, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

image I am on a first name basis with the manager of our local Gamestop. (Seriously–I am. This is Scott and his wife. He runs the local Gamestop)

He has so many games reserved for me, that it takes a Cray to manage the database.

He calls me when he gets news for hot pre-orders, and makes sure we get every cool promo item there is.

I have 7 grandkids. Six of them are already playing video games on a regular basis. (give the 2 year old another year) Read more

Older Players in MMORPG’s Clashing with Younger?

Gender Gap

This morning, I was doing my usual thing. Drinking Coffee, and reading some of my favorite gaming blogs. Rob, over at MMOCRUNCH, wrote an interesting article about the Generation Gap in MMORPG players. Read more

Dancing in online games — to excess?

July 27, 2008 by Morninglark · 1 Comment

Dance party game picture

While I was researching the dances in MMORPG’s for the Lark’s Choice Award, I ran across new MMO’s that are devoted JUST to dancing.

I love the roleplay aspects of MMO’s but come on. They made a whole game around it..heck actually I found TWO! (Dance Party and Dance Online)

Who needs a WHOLE game just to dance in?

We can dance in our favorite MMORPG, and then go slay a dragon too! (someone should go tell all those folks to come join us in our games!) Read more

Best Dances - 2008

July 27, 2008 by Morninglark · 2 Comments

I had so much fun researching this particular article!

I must have spent 20 hours watching Youtube videos of dances from games. I logged into WoW, EQ, EQ2, LOTR, and Vanguard to dance a bit myself. I looked at a total of 33 different MMORPG’s. I showed my top 5 to several other gamers and got opinions. We finally made our decision!

Profile of Moorgard

July 27, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

I began reading

back in 2001.

When he commented about a guildmate of mine, Ferkl of Veeshan Guard on CT server.

After that, his site was almost a daily read for me. He always had all the news and gossip about Everquest, with a touch of sardonic wit thrown in here and there.

He was often very critical, but always stated his reasons. Because he was fair, and would often defend Verant, he was often flamed. But overall, he had a great site, with great comments and gossip. Read more

New Bloggers Could Become Overwhelmed…

July 25, 2008 by Morninglark · 1 Comment

I am lucky that I have some computer knowledge. I have designed and maintained both static and content driven websites in the past.

Therefore I understand html, SEO, and most of the relevant things that would be needed on a website.

But blogging is a whole new experience. I have been trying to make the conversion, in my little brain …WOW. (ha,ha I am too old for this shit) Read more

Geek Quizzes - You know you love them!

July 25, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

Come on, admit it. You have spent at least a few hours taking all those internet quizzes. What is your IQ? What MMORPG are you? How redneck are you? (I know I have!)

I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to find out!

After we take the quizzes, if we like the outcome, we rush to post them on Myspace. We let everyone know that we are the most excentric, and our Goth name is Dawn. I wanted to show you how to use them on your blogs instead.

The most annoying thing, for me, is all the pop-ups on those sites. I mean really…are you kidding me? Must I have 23 little windows advertising little dingbats and glitter things for my page? Does anyone ever actually click on those dumb annoying ads? Read more

Strange things for sale on Ebay

July 16, 2008 by Morninglark · 1 Comment

Sometimes its just fun to look for weird stuff..

For example, this week you can buy:

The Secret of Invisibility says it’s an amazing book that renders you completely invisible. It goes on to claim, that it’s used by the CIA and makes you completely invisible. (and for only $24.95 haha) You have to actually click on the product and read the funny stuff he claims.

Do People actually buy this stuff?? Um..yeah they must. He has been selling it for several years and has hundreds of positive feedback comments. (Go figure)

(when you click on this link you get the sellers page..scroll down to see what they list. If I chose to link to an actual sale item, then it would expire and I would have broken links!)

—————–

Next auction you just can’t pass up today… SAND…yeah that’s right…

a pile of sand

This isn’t magic sand, or invisible sand…oh hell no. This person is gonna go outside, pack up some dirt from her beach and ship it to you..and wants you to pay for it. Um..its DIRT lady..are you kidding me???

(to see this auction, click on items for sale, then click on “Everything Else”)

BEEN TO FLORIDA ? WISH YOU COULD HAVE STAYED ? WISH YOU COULD HAVE TAKEN SOME OF FLORIDA WITH YOU ? WELL NOW YOU CAN HAVE A LITTLE PIECE OF FLORIDA FOR YOUR OWN.

THIS AUCTION IS FOR AUTHENTIC FLORIDA SAND FROM SIESTA KEY BEACH, I WILL INCLUDE A PICTURE OF YOUR SAND BEING RETRIEVED FROM THE BEACH. THE SAND WILL BE UP TO 1 LB AND MAY INCLUDE SOME SEA SHELLS, STARFISH, SAND DOLLARS , OR OTHER DRIED MARINE LIFE.

_____________

Then there is a guy that actually has an ebay store, and sells weird stuffed insects and stuff.

(not cute ’stuffed animals’ from the toy store..nope..STUFFED real animals)

a stuffed piranha

This is a stuffed Piranha captured in Peru (according to the ebay listing)

He also sells preserved leeches, skulls, bats. Well what can I say..

If you just can’t live without a stuffed snake…go see this guy!

Or go see a shrink…your choice!

If you see more unusual ebay postings..share them in comments!

Games for your Blog

July 16, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

There are so many new gadgets and tools for blogging.

I was exploring on my I-Google site the other day, and had added a few of the gadgets to the page.

There were calendars, and quotes of the day. Silly little quizzes, and a soothing little aquarium thingy.

Then I clicked on games, and found a few. I could just install them on my google search page. (what will they think of next?!)

With a little more research, I figured out I could also install them on my blog posts. Read more

Clueless employee… an example

July 15, 2008 by Morninglark · Leave a Comment

Many times we hear stories about clueless people….

This video has at least five of them!

I often come home, and whine about the idiot bank teller, or the guy in the drive through that could not get my order right.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have said, “What is it he doesn’t understand about extra cream, no sugar?” (when I have gotten home with a coffee that had extra sugar and no cream.)

Well this video, is a prime example of a clueless employee. What is wrong with this guy? And worse, what is wrong with the employer that continues to pay him??? Watch the parents. They are just as clueless as the kid. (wonder what is in the water in that town..) Anyway, the video is funny. Watch and see how many clue-less actions you can find.

Did you see the employee? He walks over, sees the little girl stuck in the machine and starts to wash the window!!! Does he go over to see if she is ok? Does he call his boss? Does he call the fire department? Hell no… he tosses his cloth in the air, and continues washing the door.

Then you have the idiot mother and father. They leave the store..just walk right out the door, without their kid at first.

“Duh, gee honey, are we forgetting something?” Then they come back in, and proceed to try to get her out of the machine.

I don’t really know much about those machines and how they work, but isn’t there a way they could have opened the machine to get her out?
