Why Morninglark?

My son and I had a gaming club named “The Ivory Tower”. It was an 1,100 sq. ft. storefront that had long tables and lots of chairs. We offered soda, snacks and gaming supplies. People would come play Magic the Gathering, or D&D. We were sanctioned by Wizards of the Coast to host tournaments and leagues.

I think it was during that time, that I began to really love fantasy artwork. Guest artists would come to the store to sign Magic Cards. Some would even paint murals on our walls.

I guess it was a natural evolution, once I started playing online RPG’s, I would want to create a persona for myself. Morninglark was born. No matter what the game, she was always the first character created. I had many characters over the years, but Morninglark is the one I could identify with.

Eventually I joined a guild that had a role-play forum. We had to choose avatar’s to represent our character. I had always loved the artwork of Joseph Linsner. I had met him at DragonCon, and enjoyed seeing some of his art up-close. I browsed around, looking for just the right picture. Then I saw it.

She had flaming red hair, like my character in EQ. She carried the signature rose of my Toreador in VTM. She was perfect!

Morninglark would experience many changes to her appearance, but ultimately she made me realize I am an elf at heart!
